Poetry Night - 4 June 2026
Anastasia S. is a Ukrainian-born, German-raised trilingual writer, assembling poems long before she knew what to bloody do with them. She studied Writing, Directing and Performance in the UK and is now based in Australia, where she is (eternally) working on her PhD. With dry, witty observation, she writes her way through life, returning to the point where longing, responsibility, and identities meet but don’t resolve. Alongside her writing, she runs creative retreats and works in spaces centred around human connection, which continue to shape how she observes and writes.
Poetry Night - 2 July 2026
Come join us for a night of Mintimate Poetry, featuring performance by the beloved Col Langdon.
Col Langdon‘s true romance with poetry began a little over four years ago when he saw poetry Queen Huda the Goddess perform at Alternator Poetry. Hudas performance inspired him to take up the pen and try his own hand at writing poetry. Always a writer, not a fighter, he found his calling as a poet on the Gold Coast where “the lines just write themselves”. He describes his poetry style as “Coffee Shop Observational” where he can combine his love of coffee with people watching, eavesdropping, talking to random strangers and gathering back stories for more than enough material to fill countless journals. He weaves fun into social commentary and ensures no Gold Coast trend, fashion, postcode, designer label tribal uniform or Instagram Cafe of the day is safe from his tongue-in-cheek point of view. Still a relative newcomer to poetry, this will be the first leg of what he calls (his words, not ours!) “Col Langdon’s Greatest Hit Eastern Seaboard Tour”.
Poetry Night - 6 August 2026
Alexi Edwards is a poet and spoken word performer from Boorloo (Perth), now based in Meanjin (Brisbane). Her work explores mental health, queer identity, and politics through sharp social critique and narrative lyricism. Drawing on the blunt veracity of Catullus, the storytelling tradition of Banjo Paterson, and a touch of Edgar Allan Poe’s theatricality, her poetry bridges page and stage while somehow managing to give her audience a good laugh. Alexi self-published her debut poetry book and spoken word album which launched on 4 April and is available both in-person and online via her Ko-Fi shop.

Versions Of Her by Charlotte Carlsson - 4 April 2026
Join us for the opening of Charlotte Carlsson’s solo exhibition “Versions Of Her”, Saturday April 4 from 6pm onwards.
CHARLOTTE CARLSSON
Creativity has been a life long companion of Charlotte, introduced as early as she can remember and have never left her side. With a mom who also expressed herself through different forms of paint, it didn’t take long before Charlotte was introduced to watercolor, which has been her main medium ever since.
For the three years of High School in her little hometown in Norway her favorite classes were the art classes, by far. Finally a place her passion was nurtured and celebrated, and it quickly became an environment that felt like home.
Since then, she’s been studying masters in sociology and education, travelling, and living abroad twice. She fell in love with photography, writing poetry, and she kept on painting. Never with the intention of selling or exhibit her art, but purely for the love of it. However, with the years, the dream once well-hidden has grown bigger and bigger. Allowing the dream and her art to take up more space. The last year before moving to Australia, she finally started selling art prints of her originals which turned out to be a success and a milestone ticked off. And just two months before her one-way ticket down under, she was invited to join a pop-up art exhibition.
The plan was to continue the little art business when she went back home, but Australia gave a new burst of inspiration which resulted in more art. Prints have been sold and now she can’t wait to host her ever first solo art exhibition.
Poetry Night - 2 April 2026
Join us for a night of open mic poetry in the gallery with feature poet Huda the Goddess.
Huda the Goddess is an internationally recognised spoken word poet, educator and activist, renowned for her powerful improvised poetry. A proud Black Sudanese Muslim woman, she uses her artistry to challenge narratives, ignite conversation, and foster deep connections between audiences and writers.
With over a decade in the arts, Huda has made history and broken barriers. She won the Australian Poetry Slam in 2021 and became the first spoken word poet invited to the World Slam Poetry Championship in Belgium. Prior to that, she claimed the Queensland Poetry Slam title twice (2020, 2021) and published her debut poetry collection, Introducing Me.
Her impact spans global stages, having performed at Singapore Writers Festival, Ubud Writers Festival, London Queens of Poetry, and Readers Festival, as well as major Australian literary events including Bondi Writers Festival and Adelaide Writers Festival.
Beyond poetry, Huda’s multidisciplinary talents shine in Betwixt, a Fringe Award–winning show in which she wrote and performed the story of five dancers — including herself — blending dance, spoken word, and improvised poetry in each performance.
Huda has graced the TEDx stage three times, including delivering her 2023 TEDx talk titled Why Poetry Is Important in a World Full of Chaos.
She is also the founder of a Brisbane-based open mic, creating a safe and inclusive space for BIPOC artists across disciplines. In addition, she is the founder and director of She Is, an upcoming national exhibition empowering women of colour to reclaim their narratives through storytelling and peer mentorship.
A well-rounded artist, Huda is not only a poet but also a dancer in multiple crews and a passionate activist for Sudan and Black women. Her work is a testament to the power of words, movement, and resistance, making her a formidable force in the creative world.

Poetry - 5 February 2026
Join us for a night of open mic poetry in the gallery with feature poet Sal/Sam.
Sal/Sam lives in Brisbane and shares spoken word shaped by lived experience, introspection and the quiet work of mindset. His writing emerges from real moments; the internal negotiations, the pauses and the things that don’t always arrive with neat conclusions.
He is the founder of live storytelling company EVRY1, a space built around human connection through true stories told live and in person, outside of algorithms, performance polish, or the pull of the feed. The stories at these shows focus strongly on mental health survival, but anything is allowed to be said, so long as it’s honest. Much like what he is building there, his spoken word favours presence over projection and honesty over refinement.
A graduate of QUT Creative Industries, Sam continues to navigate life with integrity and honesty as his compass, using language as a way to listen more closely, to himself, and to the room.
Sam wishes to be better in every area of his life. He wants to connect with other people in deep ways. He wants to look back with a smile.

PARADOX
Paradox is a dual exhibition with visual artists Jamie Torpeyand Max Langborne that explores the tension between chaosand order, highlighting the interplay of seeking freedom and control.
The artists have pushed the creative boundaries of portraiture and abstract expressionism, incorporating mark making and formalism into their paintings.
Both artists’ draw inspiration from the beauty of life, the inevitability of change, and the essence of paradox. Their works are vibrant and expressive and invite the viewer toexperience the harmonious dialogue between contradicting styles and the beauty when balanced as one.
The works were created during the Level Up Studio Residency at Mint Art House.
